x360key: Play Games From Any USB Drive?
A bit of interesting news popped up on our Facebook News Feed from Xbox-Scene. Apparently, a new product dubbed the x360key allows you to play Xbox games from any USB drive. According to the manufacturer's website, the x360key:

- Compatible with all fat (and soon slim!) Xbox 360 models
- Supports most Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 games
- Supports most file systems, including NTFS, EXT2/3/4, and Mac OS X Extended
- High speed USB2 interface
- Stylish USB control pad for selecting games and controlling your x360key
- Powerful embedded Linux system running from Micro SD card (included)
- Linux firmware fully updatable from USB media
- FPGA fully updatable from USB media via built-in, in-system JTAG programming
- Recovery mode - it is always possible to recover from a bad flash
- No drive flashing or JTAG hack required
- AP25 protection emulation
It looks promising but wait, there's more!
How it Works:
x360key consists of 2 parts, a motherboard and a remote.
The motherboard connects to the SATA bus inside the Xbox 360, and sits between the drive and the Xbox 360 motherboard. x360key is a full-fledged computer system running embedded Linux. It is capable of many things such as
- Emulating the Xbox 360 DVD drive
- Reading USB hard drives and other USB media with various file systems
- Updating itself and other hardware from USB media
- Communicating with the remote and other external USB devices
- And a lot more! (embedded Web server and Wifi connectivity for example)
The x360key is expected to go on sale in July.

God if this is true I so want onegot a 360 sitting around with no dvd drive in it(assuming this will work without dvd drive connected)edit, come to think of it, probably need a drive key still, and I don't have, damn
you can get your original dvd key from the nand so if you know the type of drive it originaly had in it buy one and flash it with either a cfw or ofw
You can only get your drive key from the nand of a Jtag hacked console.
That's true and this video of the x360key could just be a jtag ???

as Adam here said, it only works with Jtag consoles, and my 360 isn't Jtag-able, unless there is some new development I don't know about. (Im not really up to date on the 360 scene)
What you can do is play "GOD" games (Games on demand) like COD4, World at War, MW2.... a huge list of games straight from the HDD with a profile glitch, reply to me if you need more info.
So with this, you don't need to flash your 360 dvd drive with ixtreme or whatever, and download the games then burn them to a dual layer dvd. Lets say if I had just bought a brand new 360 slim, all I would have to do is install this (when they make it work for the slim), download the games, put them on the external hard drive and I'm good to go? And would I be able to play the games on XBOX LIVE with no problem?
i'm getting one. wonder if its online safe or if microsoft can detect it.
I'm sure with their new dash disc format and ap2.5 challenge tables that are coming as well as the update flashing consoles to a new custom firmware and some how embedding or encrypting the drive key in a new way...."tehy are already working on it. However if this is a legit product and is updated regularly, it could turn into a work around for much of their new war on piracy. Eliminates the need for a larger 10 gb disc Iso can be patched from external anytime needed ect. I'd just like to hear Commodore 4eva speak on this device before I get too excited. If it doesn't achieve stealth then it'd be as usefull as a ps3 with cfw and no homebrew

i guess the loader is built into the onboard linux as u can see there is another pc showing code
Chirs if you need a laptop to load the games then that's a bit pants lol Anyway i also think its fake as i could make the set-up in the pics and videos by just using my J-tag and a dark room lol No disrespect but there are no major groups backing this or coming forward to claim it .....

this would be amazing if all you need is a external HD to put the games in and their kit. I mean plugging a pass tru on the sata cable to the xbox's disk drive is a piece of cake. Wonder if it works with flashed drives or if you have to reset the drive to stock firmware. as far as i can tell it seems like that mobo and controller are a disk emulator emulating a 1:1 of the commercial disk and your drive telling the xbox that the drive has X disk in the drive.
It's about 120$ right now... Fuck that! Lmao I'll wait for the XODE it says to be half the price O.o :)
