Xbox 720 to Be Announced at CES 2012?

For the past year or more, people have been rabidly speculating about the next generation of game consoles. What will they look like? What will they be capable of? Heck, what will they even be called? The obvious choice for the next PlayStation will be "PlayStation 4," but for Xbox the name's a little muddier. So Xbox 720 is what most are calling it.

On that note, Xboxygen (a French gaming website) has claimed that a major announcement concerning the new Xbox will be made in Las Vegas at next year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It's being called a "special unveiling" and new rumor states that the console will be called the "Xbox Loop."

Supposedly, there are two teams at work on the super-secret console and there may be a behind-the-scenes look at the development at CES 2012. Team 'Loop' is working software, while team 'Infinity' is working hardware.

As far as specs goes, the rumor says, "CPU level, it would be a hexa-core with 2GB of DDR3 and our source also told us of a prototype dual-GPU AMD. We could not know the RAM." There have also been rumors of significant size reduction when compared to the XBox 360 and that the new console will use Windows 9.

CES seems a strange place to announce the new XBox. One would think that it would be announced at an actual gaming event such as E3, but it's been said that Microsoft is ready to go NOW and doesn't want to wait until E3 2012 to make the big announcement.

What are your thoughts? Will the big announcement be made at CES 2012?

I would have say probably not... if anything the next windows version will be announced there. But I could be wrong and they announce both and some how they are connected even closer than before....
Oh cool Six Core is nice, but 8 cores is better xD
But IMO 2gbs of ram is way  too low, they should put more than needed to end lag and some errors...

Do you not understand?

It's 2 Gigabytes of dedicated system RAM, the PS3 has 256 Megabytes of dedicated system RAM and another 256 Megabytes of VRAM for the GPU.

If it were to be a computer, then it might be too little ram, but it's a gaming console dedicated to gaming and not other processes. The GPU ram will probably range from 1-2 Gigabytes because of the Dual-GPU's.

Basically... 2gb is a great amount of RAM

I wonder if the rrod will be different color?

think i'll hold off until severe testing is done.

Wow.... Getting a 360 Slim for Christmas... Fuck Microsoft.

speculation is expected from this surprising discovery....i like to keep the mystery going.
