The Skinny On The 14717 Update - Blocks RGH
So it was mentioned on Major Nelson's blog that the 14717 dashboard released a few days ago was to address a color space issue. As always, that isn't usually just the case. Underlying the eye candy are a series of security updates that not only attempt to reflash your DVD drive but your also blocks RGH completely on both Phat and Slim consoles.
In the 14717 dashboard, a new two stage CB was introduced which kills the ability for RGH. However, good ol' Microsoft has started to lose this battle already has a fix for Slim consoles is in testing and has been confirmed to revive RGH.
It is advised that if you have a RGH console, to make a backup of your CPU Key as it will be the only thing to get you out of a worse case scenario created by Microsoft.
Cmon Microsoft, you can't be failing like Sony and be having your ish cracked in less than 24 hours.

No where on the net has anybody said anthing about the dvd drive for this update. Whats your source for that info?I had been reading the exact post you stated as your source and all over that thread hey say the dvd drive isn't effected in this update. So I say again where are you getting this attempt to reflash your dvd drive BS?
For you to ask such a question means that you have not been paying any attention since the last ban wave so let me say it clearly. Every dashboard update that is release whether Microsoft say so or not there is a security updates to the DVD drives, console eprom and their own servers. Microsoft is not obligated to give a full description of their software release. Also as stated in their agreement meaning the agreement that anyone who has a 360 agrees to whenever they purchase a new system or receive a new dashboard update states that they make change without your consent to protect their products in so many words. Furthermore, the new Terms of Use agreement, in which specific parts will ask you to waive your right to litigate all disputes in U.S courts and becoming part of a class action lawsuit.The problem is no ever takes the time to read the fine print. Microsoft’s now follows Sony, which amended its terms after a spate of hackings to its PlayStation Network and associated websites. By forcing users to take action via an arbitration panel, console owners will not have their case seen by a judge but by a private panel that will not allow any form of appeal. What I’m trying to say is that they can make any change to their products and they can choose what information they release or not. They say they don’t collect information from the console but yet they still find means to tell if you console has violate the terms of use agreement. Becareful of dashboard updats and silent updates.
Ah Shield? The question isn't what Microsoft could do- it's what have they done with this update that can be varified by the scene. No one is interested in a "never trust them" statement, we don't anyway. Just about everyone knows what Microsoft could do with every update (but thanks for the cautionary update) but this is the first post I have seen anywhere that has mentioned a change to the DVD firmware, and the previous poster was asking if this was a legitimate discovery - which it now turns out it wasn't (according to C4Eva).
No one needs fase positives, or warning trolls, it doesn't help the scene. Comments like the one above are about as useful and knowledgable as the guy on a torrent site that comments "first!" or "Don't download this torrent, I just got a letter from Commcast!".
You are saying they can and have so flash to stock then update then back to latest cfw everytime.I'm saying if the update doesn't touch the dvd drive then its ok like a lot of people to just update while on cfw.If you have the tools its not that much of a hassle but if you pay someone to do it for you and they charge every update then making note of what new updates do or don't do as well as other people updating while on cfw and reporting no changes burned games still play no flags.You're just a douche who copy and pasted some stupid shit that no one cares about bub. Ofcourse m$ isn't going to release whats all in an update I relied on community feedback and testing of the new update to tell me this one doesn't flash the dvd drives for anything and others have been updating for years on cfw and have not been baned.You're copy and paste ignorance is stupid and has nothing about the new update at all douche

So I bought Kinect yesterday and I'm on 13599. Can I update without losing my flash or not? Just a simple Question.Btw, I don't know exactly my LT+ Version, but Just Dance 3, MW3 and so on are working and I heard they only run with lt+3.Hope for an answer;)
